We are a homeschool family studying the Trail of Tears for a couple weeks, and chose to include this book in our reading. My children wish to review it as follows,2nd grader: I think it's the second best book I've ever read (after the Bible).5th grader: I just felt something stirring inside of me. I know I'm part Cherokee, and I am enjoying learning about my ancestors and all they went through so I could live now. It was a really great book.

My 7 almost 8 year old, to my surprise, loves learning about history and social studies at school. He came home and asked if we could find a book he could read about the Trail of Tears. This one fit the bill great for him based on reading skill Level and appropriate material.

Loved this book for 3rd grade students

The human being cruelty has no limits all over the world. I have never read a history so daring. What a beastly human suffering!. What a terrible sadness! The Cherokee Nation is great!

The book has some great information. It's sad to say, but much of what was done to the Native Americans back in the day is being done now. It's a cold game...

Ordered for my 9 yr old grandson he loves these books.

Another great book for my great nieces for their trip to the Grand Canyon. They thoroughly enjoyed the book.

Well written and historically accurate. This is one of the most interesting of the Step into Reading books I have read. The details are fascinating and so accurate. It is so hard to find something this accurate and easy to read about a really hard chapter in the lives of Native Americans. It could open up a whole discussion on the history of that treatment.
